The current condition of our global environment has created a great cause for worry. Aside from the economic crisis that the country is trying hard to survive, the environment is the next chief concern. There may be ways, however, to start eliminating both these problems with one solution. Read Article...
First of all, pick it up! Assuming you do that, is there a green way to dispose of it? Plastic bags aren't good. Here are some ideas. Biodegradable bags are available. Also, build or buy a doggy septic system in your yard. Even flushing it down your toilet is acceptable.
GREAT IDEA! But, I am constantly forgetting to bring them when I go shopping. Duh! So, I've taken to keeping them in my car! That way, I can run out and get them before I get into the checkout line.
To recycle plastic bags, hang a large one with handles on a doorknob near the kitchen and crush your empty bags into it. When it's full, tie the handles together and recycle!
Just found out about an ecologically friendly weed killer. It's called Concern. It works as well as Preen (I was told it might take a bit longer to work but that it does work well) and it's made from 100% natural corn gluten. It's safe for pets and children (and you) and is great for beneath bird feeders as it will prevent dropped bird seeds from sprouting but won't hurt the birds who decide to dine on the floor.
Do you have leftover or expired drugs in your home? DON'T throw them down the toilet or drain where they will enter the water system! Bring them to your local pharmacy and they will dispose of them for you.
Did you know that the number one ingredient in those foamy hand soap dispensers is water? Have you ever thought about that plastic container going into landfills? There is a way to stop spending your money on more water than soap and also be more eco friendly! Just re-use the dispenser!
When the dispenser is empty, remove the pumper and add liquid soap (you can buy liquid soap in bulk at Sams Club) to about the one quarter to one third level. Fill the rest with water leaving a half inch or so of room at the top. Replace the pumper and shake the container really well. The water and soap need to be well mixed for the foaming function to work. Also, letting it sit after shaking for a little while helps.
Voila! You have saved yourself money, trips to the store AND kept more plastic from the earth!
